Discover the art of handwriting in our Modern Calligraphy workshop with Brooke Benjamin. This workshop is designed to introduce you to the flowing, expressive world of calligraphy and teach you the basics to transform your words into works of art.
In this 3 hour, hands-on session, you'll learn the fundamentals of calligraphy with a focus on contemporary, relaxed styles. Using a variety of tools from traditional dip pens to brush pens—you’ll explore how to create letterforms, and how to develop your own unique lettering style. Take your tools and workbook home to keep practicing and developing your new skills. This class is open to all skill levels, whether you’re a novice or experienced artist!

Meet the Instructor:
Artist Brooke Benjamin is a calligrapher, stationer, designer & illustrator in Prescott, Arizona. She creates one of a kind, handmade, wedding stationery & branding and is known for her beautiful hand lettering. Brooke works with wedding clients across the country and has had work featured in publications including Martha Weddings and Brides. She has painted murals around the Prescott area and loves to collaborate with other creatives & businesses and is one of our Ciel co-founders.

ATC Club is back!!! Join us on earth day for our first ATC club in our new location!
Artist Trading Cards are small, collectible pieces of art that are traded instead of sold. We will be spending the afternoon making ATCs with recycled materials and repurposing them into art. You’ll be able to keep your mini masterpieces or trade with other participants. Artists of all ages and experience welcome!
Come ready to create, connect, and celebrate earth day!
Materials Included:
Cardstock and blank ATC bases
A variety of recycled materials to work with
Watercolors, markers, and other mixed media supplies
Protective collectors sleeve

Yourself & your creativity!

Perspective Drawing with Tony Brown

Drawing in perspective is a necessary skill in depicting 3 dimensions on a 2 dimensional surface. These two classes will introduce you to both two point and one point perspective drawing. You will learn about picture plane, horizon lines, vanishing points plus a brief history of perspective drawing. This class will give you the skill to correctly draw what you see.
Materials Needed:
These are the supplies you will need for class. Feel free to bring any other favorites you think you might like to use. If you would like to purchase your supplies before class at Ciel, please arrive a little early.
One HB and one 2B pencil
Sketchbook 8.5 x 11

Meet the Instructor:
Antony Brown is an architect with more than 50 years of experience working on sustainable architecture and urban design. He has taught sustainable design and planning at the college level and has lectured at universities around the United States and abroad. As Founder and Program Director of ECOSA Institute, Tony developed an innovative new approach to educating students and graduates in the role of sustainability in design. He has attracted a number of leading architects, designers, scientists and writers to ECOSA to meet with students, review their work, and share their approach to sustainable issues. Students come to ECOSA from around the world to supplement their design education. Tony has worked as an architect in London, Boston, and San Francisco, and served at Arcosanti with Paolo Soleri for 13 years building a visionary city.

She is deeply inspired by nature and it’s organic forms, with her greatest muse being flowers. She has painted murals around the Prescott area including the florals at Whipstone Farm. Brooke loves to collaborate with other creatives & businesses. She has been in the stationery business for 7 years and is one of our Ciel co-founders.

Join us for an afternoon of Gelli Plate Printmaking with Roberta Benjamin! Gelli Plate printing is a form of monoprinting that brings together the spontaneity of painting with the texture and depth of printmaking. Using a soft, reusable, gel-like plate as your printing surface, Gelli Plate printing allows you to create stunning, one-of-a-kind prints without the need for a press or complex equipment.
In this workshop, you will:
Learn the basics of Gelli Plate printmaking, including how to use the plate, brayers, and various tools for creating texture and layering effects.
Explore a range of materials, such as acrylic paints, stencils, stamps, and found objects, to create your own unique prints.
Experiment with layering, color mixing, and creating interesting textures to add depth and intrigue to your prints.

No prior experience is necessary! This workshop is designed to be fun, relaxed, and full of creative exploration.
Meet the Instructor:
Roberta Benjamin is a lifelong artist in Prescott, AZ and co-founder of Ciel. She has a rich background in many artistic mediums with her primary passion being printmaking. Before opening Ciel, Roberta shared her love of art with students by teaching at a local elementary school for the past 16 years and successfully ran an art house alongside her husband for 30 years.
